We have many farmers in every state. We could actually buy local if we knew who was growing the wheat. Asking them to set some aside at harvest time. Or maybe encourage your local grain elevator to stock some wheat for human consumption.
There is a good deal of the grain that goes into the feed for cows,chickens, etc. . When the local grain elevators buy from the local farmers. If they do not put some aside for human consumption they are stored in barns, which mice etc. get into it. Here are some pictures to give you an idea what it looks like when it is in the fields.
